Hello and Welcome to Lesson 14 of
Our Free "Meal Planning 101" eCourse
Hello,
and welcome to your
fourteenth lesson! This week we focus on
the importance of looking good!
Lesson
Fourteen;
Well, will ya look at that...
You can make the most delicious, nutritious meal ever but if it looks
unappealing guess what? There may not be much excitement about
eating it.
Color, temperature and texture differences/variety in each meal make it
interesting and more appealing. The added bonus is that a variety
of
colors in foods generally also means a variety of vitamins in the foods.
Have you ever heard the saying "Eat the rainbow"?? A variety of
colors on your plate not only looks great, it's healthy too.
Here are two meals to imagine to give you an idea of what I mean.
Both would be tasty but one will look a lot more appealing:
- chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and cauliflower with butter
VS
- chicken, roasted beets, spinach salad and brown rice pilaf with
diced green and red peppers
See what I mean Jelly-Bean? While both sound tasty, the second
one would appeal to your eyes much more - and we all have heard that you
eat with your eyes before the food ever hits your mouth.
